Said Mr Leung, “Thailand is a very important market for Hong Kong. Last year, we welcomed over 370,000 Thai residents, and the 21.2% growth in arrivals in the first eleven months of 2005 equally underlines the depth of Hong Kong’s appeal in Thailand, one of our key markets in the region.”
HKTB’s campaigns are expected to bring about more than 1.2 million additional visitor arrivals, about 2 million additional nights in extended stays, and about US$1.28 billion economic benefit. Total arrivals in 2006 are expected to reach a record-breaking 27.14 million, an increase of 15.9% over 2005, taking total tourism expenditure to US$14.7 billion.
