NIIT Technologies Thailand achieves International IT Service Management certification

- First company in ASEAN to be assessed at BS 15000 standards -
NIIT Technologies Thailand has received the BS15000 service management standards compliance certification, making it the first organization in ASEAN to be assessed as per stringent global IT Service Management norms.
This standard is the world’s first assessment specifically aimed at service management. The standard defines features of service management processes that are essential for delivery of high-quality IT services.
NIIT Technologies’ Thailand operations were awarded this certification following a strict audit by the leading international standards, testing, regulation and certification organisation, BSI Thailand. This assessment follows an intensive 18 month exercise initiated by NIIT Technologies in June 2004.
On being assessed at the BS 15000 globally respected IT service management certification by BSI Thailand, Arvind Thakur, Chief Executive Officer, NIIT Technologies said, “NIIT Technologies Thailand is building a strong presence in the Managed Services space handling critical applications for its customers. We are proud that our facility in Thailand has been assessed to the stringent BS 15000 standards, and this will go a long way in offering the highest levels of service to our customers.”
BS 15000 includes two parts--BS 15000-1, a formal specification that defines what is required for service management processes to reach best practice standards; and BS 15000-2, a supporting code of practice that describes the best practices.
Mr. David Rowland, Country Manager, BSI Thailand said, “At the end of a rigorous and independent assessment, the BSI team found NIIT Technologies to be complete BS15000 standards compliant—making it the first organisation to be so assessed in the entire ASEAN region.”
Growth in size and complexity of operations as well as the addition of a host of new clients is an added motivation to adopt a formal methodology of operations such as BS15000 to ensure effective, efficient, smooth and secure operations.
NIIT Technologies Senior VP and Asia-Pacific Head Mr. Arvind Mehrotra said, “The BS 15000 certification is a pioneering step in our compliance and process improvement journey. This follows our assessment last year as the first organization in Thailand to be certified to the BS7799 security standard.”

Mr Arvind Thakur is the Chief Executive Officer of NIIT Technologies, a leading IT Solutions organization, servicing customers in the USA, Europe, Japan, Asia Pacific and India.
Mr Thakur was responsible for spearheading NIIT Technologies and raising the organisation’s delivery capability to world-class standards. Under his stewardship, NIIT Technologies Limited has been assessed at CMMi Level 5, the highest level of process maturity in accordance with the new quality standards of SEI CMMi (Software Engineering Institute’s Capability Maturity Model Integrated). The company is also is assessed at Level 3 of the People CMM framework.
He has been a part of the core team since the early years of NIIT’s inception, handling both the software and key organisational functions at NIIT.
