Bangkok--Feb 1--SET
The Bond Electronic Exchange (BEX) announced that the SET has accepted
two batches of Government Housing Bank bonds totaling THB2 billion as registered
securities for trade. The bonds will have a value of THB1,000 per unit, and begin
trading on February 2, 2006.
Investing via the BEX is another good option for investors who are
interested in government and state enterprise bonds. Currently, the BEX offers
investors 498 batches of bonds, worth THB2.418 trillion. For bonds registered on
the BEX, interest rates offered vary in accordance with their respective terms
and maturities. However, when compared with fixed savings accounts with similar
deposit periods, BEX’s bonds offer higher returns.
The BEX will continue to encourage both state and private-sector
debt-instruments to list with it. The BEX still aims to see as much as 50% of
all private sector bonds and 100% of all state-issued bonds registered with the
BEX. These goals are in line with the BEX’s objective to become Thailand’s bond
trading centre.
