Big C has formed a strategic partnership with 11 core partners worldwide to export Thai products with a total export value of 600 million baht to Europe, the Americas and Asia. The company believes that food products and textiles continue to have high potential to further expand aggregate exports, aiming to increase the export value to 1 billion baht next year.
According to Mr. Yves Bernard Braibant, CEO and President of Big C
Supercenter PCL, "With the Thai government's ongoing efforts to boost the quality of Thai exports, Big C serves as a channel for broadening the distribution network of Thai products. We have joined forces with a group of partners in 11 countries led by France-based Casino to deliver Thai products to overseas markets, including Europe and the USA. Last year, the total value of Thai exports handled by Big C and its partners was US$15 million, or about 600 million baht. Food products represented 70% of exports while non-food products represented 30%. Examples of food exports include tuna, pineapples and rice, while non-food items consist of textiles and home appliances."
"Thailand is a prime manufacturer of high-quality products that are being bought by increasing numbers of consumers around the world. Following considerable review of the export potential of local products and relevant demand in overseas markets, partners from 11 countries are confident that international markets are expanding for Thai exports. Big C will act as a center for providing information and in cooperating with the Casino office in Thailand to ensure selection of high quality products that best suit overseas demand while boosting the readiness and convenience in the product distribution process," said Mr. Braibant.
Thai products are distributed to 11 countries worldwide including France
? the prime market for Thai products ? Poland and the Netherlands in Europe, the USA, Mexico, Argentina, Uruguay, Venezuela, Brazil and Columbia in the Americas, as well as Taiwan in Asia.
"Next year, the alliance aims to increase the export value of these products from Thailand from 600 million baht to 1 billion baht by intensifying sourcing procedures and diversifying product categories to cover frozen fish, tea, textiles and clothing to satisfy market requirements. The products that have the highest export potential include textiles and food products, which are very popular in world markets," added Mr. Braibant.
"The group of alliance partners considers that Thailand has many strategic advantages that support the country as a prime production area for diverse products to serve global demand. Exporting diverse and low-priced products for consumers marks an important major marketing strategy that can meet customer demands. Big C is committed to serving as a channel for promoting Thai products globally via the group of alliance partners while introducing new sources of manufacturing and new product categories to enhance Thai exports that will be of great benefit to agriculturists and producers as well as the country as the whole,"
concluded Mr. Braibant. End.
