Bangkok--Mar 2--SET
SETTRADE.Com Co. Ltd., a subsidiary of The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET), has donated all net income from its Internet trading courses to the Yuwapat Foundation. The proceeds, totaling THB130,000, are for needy children to continue their education at the senior high school level under the Foundation’s guidance.
SETTRADE places great importance on social development, especially the education of Thailand’s youth, as one of SETTRADE’s objectives is to develop the quality of Thai people’s lives. Annually SETTRADE holds courses on Internet trading, charges each trainee THB100, and donates the net income as scholarships for students in need.
The net income from SETTRADE’s 2005 training courses will go to the Yuwapat Foundation, to enable six students, who will receive THB5,000, enabling them to continue studying for another five years, from Grade 8 to 12.
To date, SETTRADE has granted a total of 11 scholarships: 5 in 2005 and 6 in 2006. Last year SETTRADE’s 16 member companies were kind enough to send their representatives as trainers for SETTRADE sessions, which have already trained over 2,000 persons. In addition to those attending the SETTRADE courses, others have also expressed a willingness to donate to help support youth education as well.
SETTRADE, in conjunction with 20 securities companies, regularly hold seminars to educate people about stock trading via the Internet. Trainees learn how to trade via the Net, are shown the features of the SETTRADE website, receive information sources and get to practice sending orders. While learning more about Internet trading, trainees will also have an opportunity to support Thailand’s youths in furthering their educations.
