Bangkok--19 Jul--BBL
Following overwhelming customer demand, Bangkok Bank is issuing another 500,000 Be1st cards commemorating the 60th anniversary of His Majesty the King’s accession to the throne.
The additional run of 500,000 cards brings the total number of commemorative cards to one million.
Customers who sign up for the Be1st card receive a commemorative yellow polo shirt with the anniversary emblem stitched on the chest.
Mr. Shoke Na Ranong, Manager of Bangkok Bank’s Credit Card Division, said the first lot of 500,000 cards had been issued in just one month. The bank had planned to issue the card over a five month period, and the strong demand had prompted the production of another 500,000 cards.
“The popularity of the card reflects the enormous respect that Thai people feel towards their monarch and their desire to play a part in this year’s celebrations. By giving away a commemorative polo shirt, the bank is encouraging its customers to express their feelings by wearing the shirt.”
“The card is a special souvenir to our customers to mark this once in a lifetime event, the Silver Jubilee of His Majesty King Bhumibhol Adulyadej, who is now the world’s longest-reigning monarch,” said Mr. Shoke.
The card is just one part of the Bank’s celebrations of the King’s anniversary. The Bank is also offering a fixed account with an orange passbook carrying the commemorative logo.
Customers were also invited to honor His Majesty by posting their thoughts and memories on Bangkok Bank’s website which will be given to the Office of the Royal Household Bureau to be passed on to the King.
The Bank is also participating in a blood drive with the Red Cross to obtain six million cc of blood nationwide.
