A surprise hit in its premiere season, The Ultimate Fighter returns as one of the most successful programmes of MTV’s SpikeTV! With more, brand new fighters than before from numerous fields of martial arts, fighters from rival teams will slug it out in the Octagon — a special 8-sided ring — to battle out their grudges or just put their skills to the ultimate test on their journey towards the grand prize: a hard-won Ultimate Fighting Championship contract.
With 9 welterweight and 9 heavyweight contestants split into two groups, can the guys overcome their differences to gain the advantage of team challenges before they get decimated first? Randy Couture from the previous season takes charge of team challenges this time, and welterweight champion Matt Hughes comes on board as a UFC team coach against The Ultimate Fighter’s first middleweight champion Rich Franklin.
Pit against each other in different ways of fighting, the contestants have to cope with entirely foreign styles and disciplines. Are they tough enough to handle the competition, or will they cave to challenges both in and out of the ring? From Muay Thai to wrestling, it’s the ultimate recipe of reality television and pure gritty physical challenge that has won fans of the sport and spirit from day one!
