Bangkok--17 Aug--Preuksa
Revenue and profit increase over 25%
Preuksa reveals that its half-year sales performance in 2006 was a success beyond expectations. As much as 4,202 million baht in
revenue has been acknowledged, a remarkable 25% increase over last year’s figure.
Also, net profit was achieved at 717 million baht, a 26% increase.
Mr. Thongma Vijitpongpun, Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director, Preuksa Real Estate Public Company Limited (PS), revealed
that, “The 2nd quarter of 2006 has been a great time for us indeed. During this period, we generated as much as 2,126 million baht in
revenue, a 25% increase over last year’s figure of 1,701 million baht, and a 2% increase over the 2,076 million baht that was reached in the
1st quarter this year. In addition, we are proud to announce that the company has generated a total net profit of 717 million baht in the
first half of this year, a 26% increase over the previous year’s figure of 568 million baht. In the 2nd quarter alone, we achieved net
profit of 348 million baht, an impressive 28.9% increase over the 270 million baht that was obtained last year.”
The following table illustrates the performance of PS in the past two years.
1st Half — 2005 1st Half — 2006 Growth Percentage
(million baht) (million baht)
Total revenues 3,360 4,202 25%
TH revenues 1,949 2,566 32%
SDH revenues 1,411 1,636 16%
“Actual sales in the 2nd quarter 2006 were achieved at 1,795 million baht,
a slight 5.3% lower figure than last year’s 1,895 million baht. However, the company has adjusted its product portfolio to focus
on the more affordable townhouses in the range of 600,000-900,000 baht and detached homes in the range of 1.7-2.5 million baht. With this
new strategy, sales in the 2nd half 2006 will definitely improve.”, added Mr. Thongma.
PS plans to launch 17 new projects this year, and we have already introduced 15 new projects in the first 6 months. The last two
new projects are scheduled to open in the 2nd half of the year. Of these 17 new projects, there are 11 ‘townhouse’ projects, 5
‘detached-house’ projects and one ‘condominium’ project.
PS revenue structure in 2005 was 55% from townhouses and 45% from detached homes. However, this has slightly changed in the 1st
half 2006.
In the first 6 months of 2006, 62% of revenue came from townhouses, while another 38% was from detached homes. Understandably, the
change in revenue structure was a result of many significant economic changes such as interest rates, rising oil prices and consumer
purchasing power.
Mr. Thongma further noted that, “Thanks to our extensive market research, we were able to adjust our construction and sales
strategies to cope with ever-changing consumer demand in the first half 2006. This year, we have focused more on low-to-mid-income consumers
and have been successful in creating the products that best satisfy their needs. This strategy has proven so far, and will remain so in the
foreseeable future, highly efficient in achieving our sales objectives against the current economic odds.”
