New Offering Simplifies the Creation, Management and Deployment of Corporate Websites; Enables Enterprises to Drive More Alignment Between Business Objectives and Customers While Lowering Development Costs
EMC Corporation, the world leader in information management and storage, today announced EMC Documentum Page Builder — next-generation web content management (WCM) software that simplifies the creation, management and deployment of corporate websites. The new offering enables enterprises to lower website development costs and drive more alignment between business objectives and customers.
“Historically, creating or modifying websites has proven to be an exhaustive and expensive undertaking, often requiring significant IT involvement,” said Dr. Tatchapol Poshtanonda, Country Manager of EMC Thailand, “Business users have little or no control over the layout, content and functionality, resulting in websites that lack a targeted customer experience and fail to meet business goals.”
Dr. Tatchapol added, “Documentum Page Builder was designed with a new level of ease for these non-technical business users. It simplifies the process of creating, managing and deploying websites, empowering business users to be more involved and have more control over web content.”
Documentum Page Builder offers a variety of easy-to-use features that go beyond traditional web content management technologies. They include:
A new graphical user interface (GUI) that improves design and site layout
A component-based approach that allows users to reuse static or dynamic components such as a header, footer or navigation to quickly assembly web pages
Easier site view and editing capabilities to reduce time spent searching for content
Support for Macromedia Dreamweaver templates for easier importing to and used by Web Publisher Page Builder
XML support of layout and content to provide schema validation, efficient parsing and processing, and rendering to multiple markup languages
Like other products in the EMC Documentum suite, Documentum Page Builder is unified with the EMC Documentum enterprise content management (ECM) platform. The unified architecture enables enterprises to substantially reduce costs, speed time-to-market for new business initiatives and improve overall web-based communication effectiveness. It also enables Page Builder to takes advantage of all content, process and repository services including multimedia services for managing and editing images and business process management for extending workflows beyond the content management system.
Melissa Webster, Program Director for Content Technologies & Digital Media with independent research firm IDC said, “One of the burning issues in web content management is simplicity and ease-of-use for the non-technical people who are increasingly tasked with managing web content. The new WCM features offered by EMC are the kind of instant enablers that make it easy for business users to take part in the web publishing process on top of a proven, scalable ECM platform.”
