The “Let’s Activate Your LTF” (”Long-Term Equity Funds”) campaign has boosted LTF investment impressively, increased total net asset value (NAV) by THB 3 billion, and swelled the number of investors purchasing LTF units for three consecutive months rose by 33%. The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) revealed that all this occurred during July — October 2006.
SET, in conjunction with Securities and Exchange Commission, Revenue Department, and the Association of Investment Management Companies, launched the campaign on July 1 to expand the investor base and promote long-term investment. As of October 2006, accounts and the amount invested in LTFs have been increasing, with 53% of these accounts being for three months.
“As of October, there were 11,132 LTF accounts, up from 5,861 in July. Accounts with investments made for three consecutive months rose to 3,163 accounts during August — October, a 33% increase from the July — September period. NAV leapt to THB 18,199 million as of end-October from THB 2,674 million as of end-June prior to the campaign launch.
New investment during July — October totaled THB 1,567 million, or about THB 390 million a month. Furthermore, before the campaign, only THB 20 million was invested for three consecutive months (over April — June), but this figure rose to THB 148 million during August — October, or a massive 640% spike. Obviously, LTFs have grown in both quantity and quality,” SET Executive Vice President Mr. Vichate said.
The “Let’s Activate Your LTF” campaign runs from July 1 — December 21, 2006. Purchasing units in an LTF for three consecutive months during this period entitles investors to 100 chances to win prizes in the form of LTF funds of THB 10,000 each. The first draw was on October 20, the second on November 20, while the third and fourth will be in December and January, respectively.
