Real world working experience for university students, now offered to vocational school students
KTC is going strong in running Learn & Earn @ KTC project with 3rd year anniversary celebration. The program aims to maximize the potentials of university and vocational school students by giving them the chance to make the most out of their time and to work and learn at the same time in KTC’s smart office. Learn & Earn @ KTC participants with outstanding academic and professional performance will be presented with performance awards inclusive of Disneyland Hong Kong package tour. The project is expected to draw over 5,000 applicants next year.
Mr. Mana Boonkhun, Executive Vice President, Resources Management “KTC” or Krungthai Card Public Company Limited said “Learn & Earn @ KTC project was first established in 2003 to help students make the most out of their time and to work and support themselves financially. There are presently 385 participants from over 6,000 applicants, particularly 147 Ramkhamhaeng University students, 30 Bangkok University students and 25 Srinakarinwirot University students. The program was previously offered to only university students. However, we have in this last quarter of the year extended the opportunity to vocational school students who are eighteen years of age or older. This is because we appreciate their potentials, vocational background and readiness to work in real life. Unfortunately, they do not have the chance to prove themselves so we want to be a helping hand in this regard. We want to give them the opportunity to use their skills and capability fully.”
“Learn & Earn @ KTC is an edutainment program. It is intellectually provoking and entertaining at the same time. Students would be assigned a task that is of significance but not beyond their means. They are able to choose a line of work which interests and suits them. For instance, Customer Service, Marketing, Public and Corporate Affairs or Resources Management. More importantly, participants with outstanding academic and professional
performance will stand a chance to win annual KTC Top Performance Awards and to be subsequently employed as full time staffs.”
“We are presenting the awards to ten participants this year. These will be chosen based on the assessment provided by their supervisor and their academic achievement. Then we will let them compete against one another in the game of wit. Top two winners will be entitled to 3-day, 2-night Hong Kong Disneyland tour package worth a total of greater than 30,000 Baht for themselves and their father on the occasion of Father’s Day as we want to help reinforce the importance of family. All ten winners will also be joining KTC Loveis Acoustic Winter Festival which we are holding for the first time at Bonanza Kao Yai on the 9th of December, 2006.”
“Learn & Earn @ KTC does not only give Thai students an outlook of the world but also the chance to work in a real office life. We will arrange for activities to broaden their vision and enhance their potentials in terms of leadership, teamwork, business know-how, social responsibility and Thai culture. Just recently we brought more than 100 students to a Khon Thai mask dance at Sala Chalermkrung. It was consistent with the suggestion of His Majesty the King and on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of His ascension to the throne to keep art and culture alive. Other thoughtful activities include a discussion with Prapas Chonsaranon, Deputy Chief Executive Officer of Workpoint Entertainment PCL., a scholar, a writer and a noted songwriter--, an observation of filming of One Night Genius, and, participation in Fight a Fire at Rajpracha Fire Fighting Center in Nakhon Ratchasima where students were trained to extinguish fire of different causes in preparation of possible encounter of fire in real life. We also engaged them in social service and environmental activities such as provision of care to hurt wild animals and forest plantation with The Wildlife Friends of Thailand in Phetchaburi. Five KTC Top Performance Award winners for 2005 won a VIP trip to Hong Kong Disneyland last year where they could go on rides without having to wait in a queue.”
“We are glad Learn & Earn @ KTC has prepared students well for their career throughout the past three years. We will continue to do this so Thai students will know how to benefit themselves and the society. More quality trainings and activities will be arranged for program participants. We will keep you posted of their developments.”, said Mr. Mana in conclusion.
