In a bid to demonstrate its leadership in the lubricant market and offer added value to consumers, The Shell Company of Thailand Ltd., has recently introduced its latest innovation ‘Shell Oil Vitality Indicator’ (Shell OVI), the first motor oil condition test kit available at service stations in Thailand. The revolutionary Shell Oil Vitality Test takes the guesswork out of knowing when to change the motorist’s engine oil, resulting in enhanced driving confidence and better engine protection. Initially, the service will be available at 120 selected Shell gas stations before expanding to other major provinces by 2007.
“As a leader in the lubricant market, The Shell Company of Thailand Ltd., understands the importance of creating value in its services and products for consumers. We recently offered consumers the “Shell Oil Vitality Indicator” or “Shell OVI”, an innovative device that checks your engine oil condition with ease to help boost the driving confidence of Thai motorists,” said Ms. Pissawan Achanapornkul, General Manager for Lubricant Business for South East Asia/North, The Shell Company of Thailand Limited.
The revolutionary “Shell OVI” test can be done while fueling the car. Results are shown in three levels: FRESH, TIRED and EXHAUSTED. Shell’s latest innovation equips drivers with the information about the condition of their engine motor oil and allows them to drive with confidence
To use the “Shell Oil Vitality Indicator” or “Shell OVI”, motorists need only to drive to the nearest Shell gas station where Shell OVI Consultants will take an oil sample for testing. The indicator displays three read out areas, FRESH [green
], TIRED [yellow
] and EXHAUSTED [red
]. ‘FRESH’ means that the lubricant oil can perform its functions effectively or it has only slight wear and tear. ‘TIRED’ indicates that the engine oil experiences a decreased performance or there is wear and tear at a certain level. ‘EXHAUSTED’ indicates the oil should be changed as soon as possible.
“Checking your motor oil condition with ‘Shell OVI’ is a free service offered to consumers to provide added value from Shell Thailand. At the initial stage, the service will be available at a total of 100 gas stations in Bangkok. Motorists will easily see signs of the Shell OVI service at Shell gas stations where it is available. The service will be expanded to other major provinces nationwide in 2007 concluded Ms. Pissawan.
Notes to editors
The Shell Oil Vitality Indicator correlates with Shell laboratory tests to create an indicative measurement of the car’s motor oil condition. This innovation helps lessen the hassles in measuring engine oil, especially for those with little mechanical knowledge. Driving conditions too will vary from day to day. Several factors influence the rate at which oil degrades, including oil type, driving style, vehicle type and driving conditions. The Shell Oil Vitality Indicator allows drivers to know when their oil needs changing.
The Shell OVI is the latest tool from Shell to test your motor oil condition and reflects Shell’s leadership and strong commitment to provide customers with unmatched services. The essential point of the service is to boost driving confidence and increase safety for drivers, which is a top priority for Shell.
