Captain Jim Brass teeters on the brink of death from last season’s shooting, while the team face their individual challenges. Catherine gets tangled up in her father’s affairs and is forced to take a stand when she and her daughter fall victim to his underground activities. Greg discovers the darker side of being a CSI. Anonymous mini-replicas of real crime scenes mysteriously find their way to Grissom, who leaves CSI for an indeterminate amount of time. With a dead legend returning to life and Vegas for revenge and unseen criminal gangs, the darkest side of Sin City takes over in the latest baffling season of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.
Character Biography
Gil Grissom (William Petersen)
Gil Grissom has spent the last fifteen years helping Las Vegas move from number 14 to number 2 in the U.S. Crime Lab rankings. Raised in California, Grissom went out to the beach every day when he was 8 or 9 to collect dead seagulls and anything else he could find. He would bring the remains home and conduct autopsies. While others may have a reason for being a CSI, for Grissom the job is not about choice. It’s an expression of who he is as a person, the perfect synthesis of personality and profession. Grissom’s specialty is entomology.
Warrick Brown (Gary Dourdan)
Warrick Brown is the only member of the CSI team born and raised in Las Vegas. Orphaned since young, Warrick is street smart and well connected. He knows how all the games are played in Las Vegas and knows this: the house always wins, because the odds are stacked. Warrick’s got enough of a rebel in him to challenge those odds, and enough of a realist in him to know the only one watching out for him is him, so he’ll cut his losses to fight again another day if need be. Warrick’s specialty is audio/visual analysis.
Nick Stokes (George Eads)
The youngest child in a family of seven, Nick Stokes was born into law enforcement. Law enforcement is a personal to him. He has no distance from his work because he’s always been close to people. What’s hard for Nick is balancing the unspoken but competing perspectives of his parents. He wants to live up to their expectations and becoming a CSI was one way of finding a compromise. As a CSI he’s objective. He still has a social responsibility to uphold, but does his job without an agenda. As a CSI, Nick’s specialty is hair and fiber analysis.
Captain Jim Brass (Paul Guilfoyle)
Jim Brass was born into a middle class family in Newark. He approached his job with the zeal of a reformer, and at first he gained much notoriety for his tenacious investigative style. His dedication to his work cost him his marriage and what little relationship he had with his daughter. When the dust cleared, Brass headed for Second Chance City, landing at CSI. He could get his fix of the investigative process without having to expend any personal capital. The long term is irrelevant for Brass, because he stopped believing in the future long ago.
Sara Sidle (Jorja Fox)
Sara Sidle was born and raised near San Francisco on Tamales Bay. Sara was all-or-nothing in high school, and as talented as she was, Sara has a single flaw: people. She can solve any problem except the problem of relating to other people. As a result, she hides in her job. Her foray into forensics began with her the San Francisco crime lab, after spending 5 years in the SF coroner’s office. She was later contacted by Grissom, asking her to come to Las Vegas. As a CSI, Sara’s specialty is materials and element analysis.
Catherine Willows (Marg Helgenberger)
Catherine Willows was born on a ranch in western Montana, but the rural life was never for her. Catherine soon found herself in Las Vegas, working as an exotic dancer. Catherine spent all she earned on school and on her boyfriend, Eddie, only to be left with ten dollars in the bank, a coke habit and a small child. Catherine pulled it together for her own sake and for the sake of her daughter. She became a CSI because she found it fun, like a kid solving puzzles. Catherine’s specialty is blood spatter analysis.
