Bangkok--26 Jan--Thai Airways
Flg. Off. Apinan Sumanaseni, President, Thai Airways International Public Company Limited, said that THAI landed two aircraft, TG 414 / routed Singapore — Bangkok and TG 621 / routed Osaka — Manila — Bangkok, at U-Tapao Airport due to the closed operation of the west runway 01 at Suvarnabhumi Airport for maintenance. As a result, aircraft due to land at Suvarnabhumi, especially large aircraft, was instructed to land on the east runway which created a significant landing queue up. Consequently, THAI’s aircraft was unable to land as scheduled and due to limited fuel, THAI requested to land its aircraft at U-Tapao Airport for fuel refill and operated back to Suvarnabhumi Airport.
