Bangkok--16 Feb--eTurboNews
It's the new face on the trade fair scene for 2007, and it's already proving to be a success. Globe, the new international tourism fair in Rome, which will open its doors from 22nd to 24th March 2007 in the Italian capital's new exhibition centre, is ready to become the most important b2b appointment in the Mediterranean.
On its first outing, the fair will already cover no less than 40,000 square metres of exhibition space, representing more than one thousand companies from all over southern Europe, North Africa and the Middle East. And from Italy of course, the hosting country. A (partial) list is available on the web site www.globe07.com , but every week the organisers reveal a new cluster of participants. Globe is reserved to professionals in the tourism sector, and registration is on-line, again at www.globe07.com , and free of charge.
So, Italy is holding an international b2b fair for the first time. Modelled on the London and Berlin events, it aims to become the equivalent of these fairs for the Mediterranean market.
And then there's the great location: the new Rome exhibition centre, just a few kilometres from Fiumicino airport, the strategic gateway to the region.
The ExpoGlobe organisation, based on TTG Italia know how, is doing things in grand style. More than one thousand international buyers, from 45 countries, will be guests at Globe, to buy Italy and the Mediterranean's tourism products.
In partnership with ENIT, the Italian State Tourist Board, Globe is also hosting the Italian Art Cities Exchange, with more than 250 exhibitors showing the best that cultural tourism has to offer.
Another special event included in the Globe programme is the brand new "lobby fair" on investments in tourism, called Investment@Globe , which will involve banks, real estate development companies and institutional development agencies. Reserved to professionals in this sector, it will be held on 23rd March at the Sheraton Golf Hotel, just a stone's throw from the exhibition centre.
The world of work and training will be at Job@Globe , a meeting place devoted to higher education and careers in tourism. Here there will be staff recruiting, and presentations of the new degree and masters courses in tourism studies available for students, undergraduates and postgraduates. This programme will be held in the centre of Rome, at the Spazio Etoile in San Lorenzo in Lucina.
And finally, for Rome's public, Globe has created Globe in the City: exhibition areas will be set up in the piazzas around the city where the tourism bodies, big names in the sector and the Italian regions will present themselves in a totally new format, with outdoor stands that will be open until late in the evening.
Professional tourism workers from around the world can visit Globe by registering on www.globe07.com . Special hotel prices are available for visitors.
