The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) has approved THB 35.00 billion (about USD 985.92 million) worth of new listings from the Bank of Thailand (BOT) on the Bond Electronic Exchange (BEX). It also approved the listing of THB 1.00 billion (about USD 28.17 million) worth of bonds from the Expressway and Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand (ETA). The bonds will list on March 13 (for BOT) and March 15 (for ETA).
These issues will lift BEX-listed government bonds to THB 2.99 trillion (about USD 84.45 billion), or 89.73% of the value of all listed bonds. The total listed value of bonds rises to THB 3.341 trillion (about. USD 94.11 billion).
1. The BOT bond details are:
- BOT50/25/14D, worth THB 15.00 billion, has a 14-day maturity and will fall due on March 27, 2007. It will use “CB07327A” as its trading symbol.
- BOT50/01/FRB3Y, worth THB 20.00 billion, has a three-year maturity and will fall due on March 13, 2010. It will use “BOT103A” as its trading symbol. The bond bears a floating coupon rate based on six-month BIBOR (Bangkok Interbank Offered Rate) minus 0.20%. Interest payment will be made every six months.
BIBOR is the rate of interest at which banks borrow funds from other banks in the Bangkok interbank market. It is an average short-term (one-week to one-year) rate quoted from 14 local and international banks.
2. ETA50/02/6Y, worth THB 1.00 billion, has a six-year maturity and will fall due on March 15, 2013. It will use “ETA133B” as its trading symbol. The bond bears a fixed interest rate of 4.30% per annum. Interest payment will be made every six months.
