EMC Corporation, the world leader in information infrastructure solutions, today announced its Go To Market Strategy for 2007, and its plans to build on its leadership in the Thailand storage software market. According to the latest IDC Asia/Pacific Semi Annual Storage Software Tracker (Nov 2006), EMC was positioned as the market leader in the Thailand storage software market in the first half of 2006, with 27% market share in revenue terms.
EMC’s success in Thailand built on EMC’s global leadership in Storage Software, where EMC was named the #1 provider of storage software globally for the seventh consecutive year in 2006 and led the worldwide storage software market in total revenue for the 16th consecutive quarter, according to the latest IDC Worldwide Quarterly Storage Software Tracker, March 2007. Additionally, EMC was among the five fastest growing data protection and recovery vendors in year-over-year revenue growth, nearly tripling the market growth rate during the fourth quarter.*
Dr. Tatchapol Poshyanonda, Country Manager of EMC Thailand said, “The fourth quarter of 2006 was a record quarter for EMC and a solid finish to the year. EMC Thailand delivered strong double-digit revenue growth and added 38 new customers i.e. Bangkok University, DTAC, Krungthai Computer Services, Mahidol University, Metropolitan Electricity of Thailand, Petroleum Authority of Thailand, Rama Hospital, Revenue Department, Security Exchange Commissions, Siam Commercial Bank, Siriraj Hospital, Thai Military Bank and The Minor Group reflecting strong customer adoption of EMC’s entire portfolio of systems, software and services for information management and storage. We begin 2007 with the broadest and deepest technology solutions portfolio, the strategy and, most importantly, the trust of our customers to help them solve their most pressing issues and gain a greater share of our market opportunity.”
Core to EMC’s strategy is how it will help customers in Thailand build their Information Infrastructure, to transform the way they create value from their information. By leveraging EMC’s solutions, customers are able to storage, protect, optimize and leverage their information for competitive advantage within a unified information infrastructure. Information Infrastructure is a fundamentally new approach to putting information first, putting it to work, and leveraging its value. This allows customers to avoid potentially serious risks and reduce the significant costs associated with managing information, while fully exploiting its value for business advantage.
Ron Goh, President, EMC South Asia said, “Looking across our business in Thailand, we are pleased with how well we performed in the quarter. We achieved solid top and bottom-line growth, gained market share across each of our four focus areas (storage, security, content management and virtualization), and are well positioned to build on our momentum in 2007. We achieved the market share leadership through solid execution inspired by our drive to provide customers with software that help ease complexity and lower total cost of ownership. Our entire broad software portfolio enables the backup, recovery & archive, content and business process/ resource management of their information. We continue to see strong demand for information management software in Thailand across vertical industries such as telecom, financial services and manufacturing.
