Acer Computer Co., Ltd. announced recent studies from independent research firms IDC indicating Acer held 27% market share in Thailand’s computer market in the fourth quarter of 2006. Acer continues to retain leadership in PC market (combined desktops, notebooks, and x86 servers), and No.1 position in notebook market. This is another big success for Acer.
Mr. Harry Yang, Managing Director, Acer Computer Co., Ltd., said, “Acer continues to maintain leadership in PC market. We captured 27% market share according to IDC. Acer’s business grew over 57% in 2006, this is higher than expected. Notebooks and LCD monitors generated the highest revenues for Acer. In the fourth quarter of 2006, Acer’s products ranked No.1 in the following markets:
No. 1 in Total PCs in Thailand (combined desktops, notebooks, and x86 servers) with 27% market share
No.1 in Notebook shipments in Thailand with 41% market share
No. 1 in LCD monitor shipments in Thailand with 30% market share
“For this year, we believe that the market forecast for Thailand’s computer market would continue to grow in every segment. Despite political situations, IT investment is still critical to businesses. With a wide range of products that are designed to address various demands of any industries, Acer expects 35% growth, according to Harry.
