Bangkok--9 May--SET
To enhance service quality and keep pace with the burgeoning mutual fund industry, Thailand Securities Depository Co., Ltd. (TSD) is developing a new, more efficient and less expensive fund registration system.
“The new system, known as FAST (Fund Administration System @ TSD), will replace the existing one. FAST can deal with more complicated types of funds and is easier to use,” TSD Chief Executive Officer Ms. Sopawadee Lertmanaschai said.
“Being quicker and more convenient, the new system should be attractive to asset management firms. three of whom have recently joined TSD and will be trading by end-Q2/2007—Manulife Asset Management, Seamico Asset Management, and Phillip Funds.”
TSD began its fund registration service in 2003 to assist asset management firms by providing an alternative to them each having to develop their own systems and handle post-trade work, leaving them free to focus on managing funds and selling/buying fund units. Presently TSD services a total of 58 mutual, retirement mutual, long-term equity, and provident funds of 10 asset management firms.
TSD is a subsidiary of The Stock Exchange of Thailand providing post-trade services including securities depository, securities clearing and settlement, securities and fund registration and back-office service.
There are 638 members in the securities depository service, 73 in the clearinghouse, 567 in securities registration, 10 in fund registration, and 42 in back-office service (10 - equity; 8 - debt; and 24 - derivatives).
