Blue Coat SG Wins Top Honors for Integrated Security, Ability to Optimize Video, High Level of “Configurability” SSL Capability and Availability of Shipping Client
Blue Coat Systems (Nasdaq: BCSI), the leader in secure content and application delivery, today announced that it was awarded the “Editor’s Choice” award from CMP Media LLC’s Network Computing magazine in its review of WAN optimization products.
The review appears in the May 14, 2007 edition of Network Computing magazine as well as on its website, http://www.networkcomputing.com/showArticle.jhtml?articleId=199400118 . Extensive testing was performed by the magazine at its well-regarded Syracuse University Real-World Labs?.
The Network Computing review identifies a number of strengths for Blue Coat’s SG appliances. Some important differentiators include:
- Integrated security and control features
- Ability to optimize live video through use of “stream splitting” technology
- High level of “configurability.” For example the review noted, “On the Blue Coat SG Appliance, for instance, we could configure proxies to intercept specific protocols, then define which optimizations would apply.”
- Ability to accelerate or control SSL-encrypted traffic; this capability has been available for the past year and even works with traffic from external sources, such as Software-as-a-Service applications
- Integrated clustering for failover and load balancing
- The SG Client WAN optimization software for laptop computers
