Siam City Concrete Co Ltd (SCCO), a subsidiary of Siam City Cement Pcl (SCCC), recently signed an agreement with Unique Engineering and Construction Pcl to provide 114,340 cubic metres of ready-mixed concrete for the construction of a section of the Ramindra - Outer Ring Road Expressway. The contract is for 20 months.
“The agreement indicates that our customers in the private and public sectors consistently trust the quality of our products and services,” said Chantana Sukumanont, SCCC’s executive vice-president for marketing and sales. “We’ll deliver the ready-mixed concrete for this project from the on-site production unit and from other units nearby.
“This year, SCCC plans to increase the number of its retail customers, and we expect to achieve growth of around 10 percent. We believe that the industrial sector and state investment will continue to expand, and we should obtain some large-scale construction projects that will account for something like 20 percent of our customer base.
“Despite the slowing down of the economy, state investment in the infrastructure is still a necessary means of injecting capital into the economic system,” said Virach Rungrojsaratis, vice president of engineering at Unique Engineering and Construction. “It also helps to prepare the country for future investments.”
The Ramindra - Outer Ring Road Expressway is a six-lane elevated tollway from the end of Chalong Rat Expressway on the Km 5.5 of Ramindra Road to Motorway 9 (Eastern Outer Ring Road). Unique is contracted by the Expressway and Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand to build a two-kilometre section of its total length of 9.5 kilometres from the start to Sukhaphiban 5 (Km 11) Road.
