Bangkok--1 Jun--PTT
Mr. Chaivat Churitti, Senior Executive Vice President of Oil Business Group — PTT Public Company Limited (PTT), revealed that after the close monitoring on the continuity of oil price fluctuation in the global markets, there is good news that the prices have been easing down. As of June 1, 2007, Dubai Crude has declined to US$63.86 per barrel, and Gasoline 95 touches US$85.42 per barrel. Therefore, PTT has considered to revise the retail gasoline prices (includes gasohol) down by 40 satang per liter. As the result, to be effective 5 AM of June 2, 2007, the retail oil prices in Bangkok and the nearby provinces will be as follows:
Unit : Baht/Liter
Gasoline PTT Alpha X 95 29.99
Gasoline PTT Gasohol 95 Plus 26.69 (Baht3.3 cheaper than Gasoline 95)
Gasoline PTT Alpha X 91 29.19
Gasoline PTT Gasohol 91 Plus 26.39 (Baht2.8 cheaper than Gasoline 91)
High Speed Diesel PTT Delta X Euro III 25.34
PTT Bio Diesel / Palm Diesel 24.64 (70 Satang cheaper than Diesel)
PTT Senior Executive Vice President added that the main factor for the price decrease was because the market concerns over the possibility of tight supply during hurricanes season have been eased after the US Energy Ministry prepared its emergency plan. Under the plan, the US would take out and use its strategic crude reserves in case if there is a supply shortage of crude produced at the Gulf of Mexico during the hurricanes season. In addition, the quantity of the gasoline reserves in the US has increased during the driving season.
PTT is willing to immediately reduce its retail oil prices to reflect the lower cost amid the easing down of the global oil prices. Although PTT has not yet decreased the retail selling price of diesel due to the minimal changes in world price of diesel together with the current narrow spread of the marketing margin, PTT will keep a close monitoring on the direction of global price of diesel. Meanwhile, PTT would like to urge everybody to save energy through cautious consumption and to turn to alternative fuels which can help save money.
