HP unveils the Industry’s First Edgeline Technology-based Multi-function printers (MFPs) that Deliver Revolutionary Performance, Operating Costs and Reliability to Win in the Multi-Billion Copier Market
HP today announced a revitalized approach to the enterprise printing marketplace that includes
- A momentum update of its enterprise printing strategy and successes,
- An increase in its global sales force, a specialized sales process,
- And an enhanced portfolio of services and solutions to help businesses run their imaging and printing environments more efficiently.
Additionally HP unveiled the first color multi-function printers (MFP) based on its ground-breaking HP Edgeline technology launched in the last quarter of 2006, marking its intent to further capture copier pages.
The new HP CM8060/CM8050 Color MFPs are built with HP Edgeline Technology, a powerful new printing engine which leverages HP’s $1.4 billion investment in Scalable Printing Technology (SPT). Enabling enterprise and SMB customers to improve productivity and control operating costs, these MFPs deliver a powerful combination of features including high-speed performance,(1) best-in-class operating costs,(2) best-in-class reliability,(3) excellent output quality, and intuitive usability.
“Building on HP’s MFP industry leadership, HP is extending our portfolio with new Edgeline color MFPs”, said Prasert Charoonpaisal, General Manager, Imaging and Printing Group and Consumer Segment, Hewlett-Packard (Thailand) Ltd. “The Edgeline offerings will transform the industry, providing customers a multifunction printing solution with unprecedented ease of use that can improve productivity and lower color operation costs by up to 30 percent.”
“HP is increasing its global sales force, offering new innovations, and leveraging services and solutions across its portfolio. Today’s introductions provide tools customers need to optimize their printing infrastructure, better manage their environment and improve workflows,” said Prasert.
Go-to-Market Investments Update
HP first unveiled its “next chapter” in imaging and printing for businesses four years ago, which included HP’s Total Print Management (TPM) solution, HP’s imaging & printing services and its new go-to-market model for enterprise customer engagement on a market-by-market roll-out. And late last year, the company also announced a bolstering of its enterprise imaging and printing product, services and solutions portfolio and strategy to expand and improve HP’s engagement with enterprises.
HP’s investments have since paid off with the following milestones, as it declares its definitive market leadership in the enterprise printing market in Asia Pacific:
According to IDC, for full year 2006 enterprise printing market, HP’s laser unit shipments has doubled, which reflected the great success of HP in this market.
In the last four years, HP has evolved a dual strategy where it sells 50% Prime (either Direct or through Value Channels) and 50% in the Channels for Thailand, with an infrastructure set up to facilitate direct sales to enterprise customers across eight markets in Asia Pacific. Increasingly, HP is focused on developing value channels, instead of the traditional volume channels for the Enterprise printing business, which will help propel HP in the Managed Print Services offering.
More than 10 different training events have also been deployed across Thailand to develop HP’s Imaging & Printing Enterprise direct sales team and selected value partners’ expertise to sell HP’s products, solutions and services portfolio to the Enterprise
“This enterprise market investment and strengthened sales strategy has resulted in our Managed Print Services business’ Total Contract Value (TCV) in the country growing by over 60% in 2006 ,” said Prasert. “Today, we also help manage single-function and multifunction devices for our customers under HP Managed Print Services contracts in the country.”
MFP Market Success in the Multi-Billion Copier Market
HP achieved a 60% unit market share of the laser MFP devices in the large business/enterprise space in 2006.
“With such growth and its strong position, HP is poised to capture more share in the Asia Pacific MFP market where IDC expects shipments surge from 2 million units in 2006 to 4 million in 2011, thanks to an anticipated spike in business adoption,” Prasert concluded.
