Siam Ocean World, Southeast Asia’s largest world-class aquarium, participates in the environmental awareness program to celebrate the upcoming annual ‘World Ocean Day’ on 8 June. The aquarium offers 10 easy tips anyone can do to ‘Save the Ocean’ in order to conserve the marine environment and perpetuate the natural beauty of the sea and the underwater.
Ms. Phinyada Atchatavivan, Siam Ocean World’s Product Development and CSR Manager, says that the ocean is a rich natural resource for both humans and other living creatures. Apart from being a vast place filled with oxygen and home to multitude of marine animals, the ocean also provides a good place for relaxation, routes of communications and an inspiration for creativity. In the upcoming annual ‘World Ocean Day’ on 8 June, Siam Ocean World would like to help encourage people of all ages to do their part and give back to Mother Nature. It is a day that everyone can begin taking care of the ocean to perpetuate the natural resources and conserve the beauty of the ocean for the next generations.”
World Ocean Day was established back in 1992 by the collaborations formed at the Earth Summit’s meeting in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. For 15 years, this event has been ongoing with the efforts of the working group who has been continuously distributing information and knowledge to the public through their global networks. The activities, held through the network of collaborations, take place in all venues and institutions including aquariums, zoos, schools, universities and many environmental organizations. The activities are mainly designed to encourage marine environmental awareness among the people.
Siam Ocean World then would like to invite Thai people, both young and adults, to take part in keeping our oceans clean and preserved simply by following 10 easy tips. To help expand awareness of how to take care of the ocean, you can also send them to your friends and encourage them to take part in conserving our ocean and provide a pristine ocean for the future generations.
Siam Ocean World also prepares 10,000 sets of these 10 tips printed in small cards for the aquarium’s visitors during 8-15 June 2007 to encourage people to take care of the ocean during World Ocean Day.
Note: The glass bottle given to you as the souvenir can also be a reminder to reduce, reuse and recycle or be reused as a beautiful flower vase.
