Bangkok--7 Jun--EXIM Thailand
EXIM Thailand stages a proactive reorganization, establishing the Strategy and Business Development Department to enhance public and private sector collaboration with a view to strengthen Thailand’s competitiveness as well as creating the Credit Analysis Department to ensure prudent and efficient credit analysis and NPL reduction. The Bank also streamlines functions within the Banking Department to better serve clients’ needs and stimulate their use of approved credit lines.
Dr. Apichai Boontherawara, President of Export-Import Bank of Thailand (EXIM Thailand), said that the Bank’s reorganization took effect on June 1, 2007 with the formation of three new departments and one division. The Strategy and Business Development Department is responsible for formulating the Bank’s strategic plans in line with the government’s policy as well as developing new financial and advisory services and products to promote the growth and competitiveness of Thai entrepreneurs in the global marketplace. This is to achieve the Bank’s ultimate goal of serving as a development bank for Thai exporters and investors overseas.
The Credit Analysis Department was also founded with an aim to separate credit analysis function from marketing operation and, eventually, to improve loan quality and curtail non-performing loans (NPLs). To achieve this end, the Bank emphasizes capability building of the Department staff in their analysis of clients’ financial positions.
To improve clients’ satisfaction, all banking operation functions have been streamlined under a single department. The new Banking Department is, thus, charged with the provision of a complete range of financial services including export bill negotiation, export credit and investment insurance, loan and guarantee provision, bank accounting services as well as follow-up of credit line utilization and overdue debt prevention.
In line with good governance and quality management principles and practices, the Bank also established the Compliance Division under the Office of Risk Management to ensure that the Bank’s credit rendering and overall operations are in conformity with relevant laws, regulations and policies set out by the Bank and related governmental agencies.
