Bangkok--8 Jun--TMB Bank
TMB Bank Public Company Limited reaffirmed that the Bank’s current capital base remained strong and higher than the minimum requirements set by the Bank of Thailand (BoT).
Responding to S & P’s change in the Bank’s rating outlook from BBB-/A-3 Stable to Negative today, Mr. Subhak Siwaraksa, President and CEO of TMB, stated that the Bank still maintained a sound financial position, supported by a capital adequacy ratio of 10.6 % which is higher than the minimum requirement of 8.5% set by BoT. However, the Bank had a policy to strengthen its financial position in the near term by raising the capital adequacy ratio to 12% to be in line with its peers. The Bank’s management has been in discussion with major shareholders on how to achieve this.
“The consultation with major shareholders is progressing. Things are moving in a positive direction,” Mr. Subhak said, adding that the details of the plan would be submitted to the Board of Directors soon.
