ข่าวทั่วไป Friday June 22, 2007 09:27 —PRESS RELEASE LOCAL

Bangkok--22 Jun--Bumrungrad International Bumrungrad International now offers hospital-wide wireless access to the Internet for its patients and guests. With over 300 access points, the system will provide high-speed connections for wi-fi enabled laptop computers from anywhere in the hospital. Wi-fi users can connect in minutes, the same way they do in most wi-fi locations around the world. Connection fees are Baht 100/hour or 700/day, and can be charged online to the user’s credit card. The new network is Bumrungrad’s latest investment in technology to help it serve its 1.2 million patients each year. The floor space covered by the network and the number of access points make it one of the largest wi-fi networks in Thailand. The hospital employed state-of-the-art technology from Motorola to assure both reliability and security. “The wireless network serves not only our patients and visitors, but also doctors and staff,” explained the hospital’s Chief Technology Officer Chang Foo. “Speed, convenience, and security were key factors in its design.” Security is protected by Motorola’s powerful Wireless Intrusion Protection System (WIPS) and monitored 24 hours a day. The system will allow innovations Bumrungrad is developing as part of its “Hospital of the Future” plan. Wireless tablet computers will allow doctors and nurses to reliably collect and store patient information in real time using Global Care Solution’s Total Hospital Information System — Hospital 2000. Diagnostic images will be retrieved at any location to show patients or discuss among specialists. In addition, wireless connections to the hospital’s back office system will make administrative processes such as registration and discharge quicker and easier.
