Bangkok--26 Jun--SET To make transactions more convenient for investors and expand the investor base, The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) supports securities companies in establishing trading outlets at commercial bank branches. As encouragement, the Exchange has set up a SET Corner and e-learning station for investment education at the bank. Siam City Securities Co., Ltd. (SCIB), which recently opened an office at Siam City Bank’s Phuket branch. The SET Corner and e-learning station will provide valuable information for clients of both the company and the bank, and SET is keen to provide the same facility to other securities firms that open outlets at commercial bank branches, SET President Ms. Patareeya Benjapolchai said. “We will work with securities companies and banks to establish trading outlets, as it will expand the Exchange’s investor base and benefit all parties. It will enable a bank’s customers to fully access the capital market, without the costs of opening a company branch office,” Ms. Patareeya said. The SET Corner is similar to the Maruey Knowledge Center at the SET building and will provide finance and investment information to the bank’s staff, clients and the general public. The corner features printed materials, SETSMART real-time stock trading and e-learning which can be run on the bank’s and the securities firm’s systems. “SCIB believes that this initiative will better meet the investment demand of its clients by enabling them to carry out both financial and capital market transactions”, SCIB’s President and CEO, Mr. Chaiwat Utaiwan stated. “By the end of this year, SCIB, in collaboration with Siam City Securities Co., Ltd., will open five new outlets at the bank’s branches in Singburi, Supan Buri, Nakorn Sawan and Chiang Mai Province, where there is considerable investor market opportunity. The bank will open full branches where either our officers or the clients themselves can execute internet trading orders through the bank’s system. Furthermore, clients can open new accounts and undertake other processes using the branch’s back office system, thus reducing both the operations and costs of opening new securities company branches,” Mr. Chaiwat added. This year has seen the establishment of three outlets at bank branches - Thanachart Securities PLC at Thanachart Bank’s Roi Et and Chantaburi branches, and Siam City Securities Co., Ltd., at Siam City Bank’s Phuket Branch.
