Bangkok--27 Jun--Ogilvy Public Relations School’s Out, Let’s Party! Mickey Mouse and his pals at Hong Kong Disneyland invite everyone to Get Wet, Get Animated and Get Wild this summer as the Resort celebrates the school holidays with Mickey’s Summer Blast - a party jam-packed with dazzling entertainment and two brand new attractions! A taste of Disney’s summer magic was revealed today at the Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel as Bill Ernest, Executive Vice President and Managing Director of Hong Kong Disneyland Resort and Jasmine Law, 2007 Hong Kong Disneyland Ambassador shared a sneak peek of what’s in store for guests this summer. Mickey’s Summer Blast, which is hot, hot, hot and yet so refreshingly cool, will kick off on July 14 and continue until the end of summer. “Hong Kong Disneyland will be the place to see and be seen this summer as guests immerse themselves in Disney magic that is refreshing, animating and just wild!” said Mr. Ernest. Mr. Ernest continued, “Last year, we drove into the future with a host of exciting new experiences in Tomorrowland - Autopia, Stitch Encounter and UFO Zone - and this year we’re thrilled to continue the summer tradition by adding more sizzle to our incredible line up of entertainment and attractions.” Here’s a look at what’s in store during Mickey’s Summer Blast:“GET WET!” Created exclusively for Hong Kong Disneyland, Mickey’s WaterWorks is a splashy, new day parade designed to bring some waterful fun during the summer months. Bursting with water-fuelled energy, the parade showcases just how Mickey and his pals keep Hong Kong Disneyland’s landscape looking so beautiful and lush. But watch out! Onlookers are likely to get caught up in the “splashy” fun of the cavalcade. A medley of favorite Disney characters, some of whom have never appeared in Hong Kong Disneyland before, including Big Bad Wolf and Pinocchio, entertain guests with a water-filled extravaganza of music, dance and colorful floats.Classic Disney characters like Goofy, Donald Duck, Buzz Lightyear and of course Mickey and Minnie join a cast of hundreds in setting the stage for the lush, garden backdrop of the parade. A host of themed floats are joined by 100 performers, including 30 characters, dancing to an original score to make this parade a must see splashtacular extravaganza! Also new for “Mickey’s Summer Blast”, the Main Street Water Brigade, comprising three comedic “firefighters”, will delight and surprise guests several times a day with an all new humorous performance sure to create a “splash” along Main Street U.S.A. Splash-tastic fun and waterful good times with Goofy will be on tap whether guests want to get soaked or just enjoy a little sprinkling to keep cool from the Hong Kong sun. Located in Tomorrowland, UFO Zone is an alien oasis which delights guests amidst a futuristic spaceport where keeping cool is the number one rule. “GET ANIMATED!” Animation Academy is the newest attraction to add to the fun at Hong Kong Disneyland and is set to inspire creativity in every guest. Located next to “The Disneyland Story” on Main Street U.S.A., this attraction features an interactive experience that is both entertaining and educational. Here, guests can pick up a pencil and be part of the Disney creative experience — through art! Animation got its start at the turn of the 20th century and it was in 1923 when the Disney brothers, Walt and Roy, opened their first animation studio. The cartoons the brothers produced set them on the road to success and they soon saw the need to train new recruits to help out with the creative drawing work. At Hong Kong Disneyland, guests will have the rare opportunity to learn how to draw from talented Disney Artists who will demonstrate how to create their favorite Disney characters. Then, guests will be able to practice and perfect the drawing themselves - a career as a Disney Artist might not be far off! In addition to refining their artistic skills at Animation Academy, Hong Kong Disneyland guests can also “get animated” through a variety of new experiences especially created for “Mickey’s Summer Blast”. Mickey Mouse and Minnie Mouse get in the summer spirit as they don colorful Hawaiian outfits and decorate their Town Square gazebo in tropical flowers. The floral Mickey centerpiece that greets guests at the entrance will also sport large stylish sunglasses — all super animated photo opportunities! As drawing takes guests into the world of imagination, Custodial Cast Members will bring the pavement to life with artistic water creations near Animation Academy with mops and water. While guests are creating magical memories they will continue to be entertained by the Summer Blast Boys who bring to life the sounds of summer with contemporary tunes a cappella style.“GET WILD!” In Adventureland, guests can continue to “Get Wild” at the Pirate Takeover — by popular demand, the totally immersive and interactive pirate experience will continue to sail through the summer until the end of August. In celebration of the movie, “Pirates of the Caribbean 3: At World’s End”, Adventureland has transformed into Pirateland, delighting guests as it transports them back to a time when pirates sailed the seven seas vying for treasure. Guests of all ages can participate in activities such as Captain Jack Sparrow’s Pirate Boot Camp to learn how to be a pirate; or sing and dance to rowdy pirate music in Pirates Procession. For the truly adventurous, sail down the Rivers of Adventure on the Jungle River Cruise, Pirate Takeover! where surprises lurk around every corner. Don’t forget to try the fun Mid-Way games to win exclusive pirate treasure! In true pirate spirit, Mickey, Goofy and Pluto sport their very own pirate costumes for guests to take pictures with. Special photo corners are also available to create those special pirate memories. As a new addition to the swashbuckling action of the Pirate Takeover, Captain Jack Sparrow has ordered his zany crew of buccaneers to wash the planks of Pirateland in Swab the Deck, a new comedic performance filled with splashy antics. In the cleaning frenzy, guests will get wet as well! In addition to the new offerings premiering during Mickey’s Summer Blast, guests are sure to have a “blast” this summer as they continue enjoying all the exciting attractions at Hong Kong Disneyland. Disney in the Stars “blasts” the sky with a kaleidoscope of colors as the only nightly fireworks spectacular in Hong Kong. Guests can “blast” into an intergalactic race through the cosmos in Space Mountain or “blast” off to infinity and beyond and become a space cadet to save the galaxy in Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters. To compliment the summer excitement, over 1,000 merchandise items will be released with a variety of themes. From plush toys and pins to souvenirs and stationery, these colorful items will make true collector items or gifts for friends and family. For food lovers, the Park and hotels will be offering new splashy summer menus that will refresh and make taste buds tingle! “Walt Disney once said, ‘Disneyland will never be completed. It will continue to grow as long as there is imagination left in the world,’” said Mr. Ernest. “Hong Kong Disneyland is a testament to Walt Disney’s dream and we will continue to offer fresh and exciting entertainment that creates magical memories for every guest.” For more information about Hong Kong Disneyland’s summer offerings and Mickey’s Summer Blast, please log onto www.hongkongdisneyland.com .
