Bangkok--4 Jul--SET The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) and Chiang Mai University (CMU) jointly launched the financial learning center, Financial Street@CMU, at CMU’s Faculty of Business Administration. This is the fourth regional learning center established under SET’s University Networking Project. Financial Street@CMU is the result of a memorandum of understanding between SET and CMU, signed on May 19, 2003, SET’s Capital Market Education Division Chairman Mr. Punsak Vejanurug said. “The center will provide activity-based learning and be a model for similar facilities in the region. It will offer print and electronic information, and a Thailand Securities Institute (TSI) simulation program presenting visitors with a virtual capital market trading experience,” Mr. Punsak added. “The center’s link to SETSMART (SET Market and Analysis and Reporting Tool) Enterprise system and its user-friendly online database will enable local faculty, students, investors, businessmen and securities professionals to research, practice and implement a variety of investment strategies,” Mr. Punsak said. The Exchange seeks to expand its investor base through the University Networking Project, under which SET has worked with universities across the country to establish SET Information or Financial Learning Centers for students, faculty and other interested people. Since 2004, the Bourse has established centers at four universities - Khon Kaen, Naresuan, Prince of Songkhla and Chiang Mai — and one Financial Lab at Chulalongkorn University, with another to be launched at Thammasat University in 2008.
