Thai and Vietnamese securities depositories sign MOU

Bangkok--9 Jul--SET Thailand Securities Depository (TSD) has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Vietnam Securities Depository (VSD) in anticipation of increased cross-border transactions. The MOU facilitates information sharing and mutual development. TSD Chief Executive Officer Ms. Sopawadee Lertmanaschai and VSD Chief Executive Officer Ms. Phuong Hoang Lan Huong signed the document on July 6 in Hanoi, at a ceremony marking VSD’s first anniversary. “The MOU will strengthen cooperation between TSD and VSD in various areas, including technological and industrial development. The collaboration will position us well for dealing with global trends such as cross-border transactions, thus benefiting investors in both countries,” Ms. Sopawadee said. TSD is delighted to congratulate VSD on its first anniversary, Ms. Sopawadee added. The Vietnamese company provides depository, clearing, and registration services to both Hanoi Securities Trading Center (HASTC) and Ho Chi Minh City Securities Trading Center (HSTC). This latest MOU follows that signed by TSD with Taiwan in April 2007, and is part of TSD’s initiative to establish agreements with various Asian securities depositories.
