Bangkok--17 Jul--SET Capitalizing on the current spike in market investment, Thailand Futures Exchange (TFEX) is accelerating its plans to launch educational programs for brokers and investors. As a prelude to the introduction of SET50 Options trade on October 29, these programs are intended to both enhance the general understanding of futures trading and expand the investor base. As part of increased foreign capital flows into Thailand, more investors have been drawn to TFEX, as evidenced by the June average daily trading volume of 5,509 contracts and the 7,144 daily average in the first half of July, TFEX Managing Director Mrs. Kesara Manchusree stated. “The exchange’s increased daily trading volume bodes well for the introduction of SET50 Options. Our educational programs will now be launched earlier than intended through television and local seminars in Bangkok and upcountry,” Mrs. Kesara said. The most recent TFEX project is “Futures talk by TFEX”, which is part of the “Smart Money” show broadcast on Money Channel — Truevisions 80 and Channel 5 - every Monday, from 15:30 to 16:00 hours. The program provides information on finance and derivatives, and presents financial innovations in an easy-to-understand format for viewers who may not be familiar with the topic. The occasion will feature derivatives experts, both analysts and successful TFEX investors, who will offer investment tips for SET50 Options. “Following the successful trip to Chiang Mai province in April, we will undertake more road shows to educate investors and marketing officers across the country, targeting regional urban centers. On August 19, the exchange will visit Khon Kaen province to meet with local investors and give them the opportunity to participate in the trading simulation, TFEX Futures Camp Challenge 2007.
