Bangkok--24 Jul--Japan Foundation Eternally Yours” (Furochoju) Synopsis Teruko, an elderly lady living alone, becomes delighted when a delivery-man brings her a golden package. She mistakes him for her childhood friend, but he is actually a con-man selling fake pills. The ensuing comedy of wit between the two characters plays upon social prejudice about senior citizens and is inspired by recent crimes in Japan of scam artists deceiving senior citizens. (Japanese with English subtitles) The Director Atsushi Ogata is internationally known for his award winning art videos. He is a graduate of Harvard College and Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Center for Advanced Visual Studies. In “Eternally Yours” he collaborates with Director of Photography Yuichi Nagata JSC, renowned for his work in such films as “Water Boys”. This film has just been screened in the “New Directors/New Films”, at the Museum of Modern Art and the Film Society of Lincoln Center New York City early this year, and in the end of August, “Eternally Yours” will also be screened at the Palm Springs International Festival of Short Films in California, the largest short film festival in the US.
