Bangkok--2 Aug--Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide UPS launched a new “around the world” flight to further enhance service between Thailand and growing markets in Singapore, India, Middle East, Europe and the United States. The new flight will allow UPS to enhance its service by improving pick-up times and providing more airlift in response to customers’ demands. Customers can ship from Bangkok to Singapore, Mumbai, and Europe. UPS will operate five additional weekly frequencies that connect the globe using MD-11 aircraft. Each week, the aircraft will connect Thailand to Singapore, Mumbai as well as major trading markets in Europe, the Middle East and the United States by flying from the company’s European air hub in Cologne, Germany. The flight begins in Cologne and will connect to Dubai, Bangkok, Singapore and Mumbai before returning to Cologne. From Cologne, shipments will be distributed to Europe or be connected to the company’s international air hub in Louisville, Kentucky, USA. With UPS’s 11 existing “around the world” flights, the total number of worldwide flights now increases to 16 per week. “Thailand is a key market for UPS in Asia and we are constantly looking at ways to expand our service for Thai customers whether they require express, air freight, ocean freight or distribution and logistics options,” said Halim Selamat, Managing Director of UPS Thailand. “In a century of service, UPS has evolved from a small messenger business to becoming a trusted partner for companies doing business around the world and we remain committed to helping our customers efficiently manage their complex global supply chains.” “The new flight is part of our aggressive efforts to extend service options for Thai customers and is a testament of UPS’s commitment to grow in Thailand. It also supports the growing trade between South Asia, the Middle East and Europe by providing businesses with greater access to the regions,” shared Mr.Halim. In line with the new flights, the 2007 UPS Asia Business Monitor survey, which measures the views of small-and medium-sized enterprise business leaders, revealed that SMEs across the region including Thailand see the strongest trade growth in intra-Asia followed by the Middle East and Europe. UPS is celebrating its 100th anniversary throughout 2007 and chose Singapore as the first stop in the Asia Pacific Region for the celebration, which will revolve around a mobile Centennial exhibition to be unveiled to UPS employees during an event at the Singapore Expo on May 19.
