Bangkok--3 Aug--IDC Based on IDC's latest release (May 2007), Thailand IT spending is expected to grow at a Compound Annual Growth Rate of 9.9% from 2006-2011. Despite the uncertain political outlook that will impact the public sector's IT spending plans in the short term, IDC believes that the Thailand IT market will recover in the coming year. It will remain one of the fastest growing countries in the ASEAN region, based on its infrastructure build-up and improvements in its economic activities. In line with IDC's view of Thailand as a regional powerhouse in the ICT marketplace, IDC is continuing its investments in research talents and solutions designed to be even more responsive to its customers' needs and research requirements in Thailand and the region. Two veteran IDC executives have been appointed to lend their management strength to the existing team of analysts who are based in the Bangkok office. Driving the Thailand growth strategy are Selinna Chin, Managing Director for IDC Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines and Thailand, and Linus Lai, Research and Consulting Director for IDC ASEAN. With their years of experience in ICT research in the ASEAN region, they will complement the collective skills of the IDC Thailand office. Selinna's main focus is to lead business development initiatives and drive expansion plans deeper into Thailand, extending IDC's leadership position as the premier provider of market intelligence and advisory services. She will continue to expand IDC's presence by increasing market awareness through innovative business development and customer service strategies, and leveraging IDC’s worldwide expertise in research, consulting and event management. Selinna has a proven track record in developing and growing the business operations for IDC Malaysia, Indonesia and Philippines since she joined IDC Malaysia in 1993. Linus' primary role is to build a robust research unit covering the ASEAN markets and emerging countries such as Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka. Linus has more than twelve years of working experience in the ICT industry, with research expertise spanning numerous ICT markets, from server infrastructure and enterprise software markets, to IT services markets. He has also played an active role in IDC's consulting engagements, where he has undertaken on several regional projects in the areas of channel selection, software-as-a-service pricing, product concept testing, market penetration, and customer service quality. “We look forward to growing and further establishing a stronger footprint of IDC’s business in Thailand," said Selinna Chin and Linus Lai. "Thailand has demonstrated resilience and quick rebounds in managing its country affairs through financial crisis, natural disasters, and political challenges. We are confident of what Thailand has to offer and its potential. Together with the great IDC team in Thailand, which is as committed and focused as we are, we believe we will succeed in establishing IDC as the premier global provider of market intelligence, advisory services, and events for the ICT community in Thailand." “Selinna's and Linus' broad experience working across the Asia/Pacific geography, coupled with their experience in research encompassing hardware, software, services, telecommunications markets, and consulting and management experience, makes them the ideal additions to manage and drive IDC’s Thailand business into 2008 and beyond. I am very confident that they will serve their expanded roles well.” said Eva Au, IDC’s Managing Director Asia/Pacific.Note to Editor Selinna Chin will be in IDC's Bangkok office Aug 7 to 10.
