Bangkok--6 Aug--SET The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET)’s Money Channel will host a road show in Udon Thani on Saturday August 4 at Charoensri Grand Royal Hotel. This will be an opportunity for local residents to receive up-to-date information from experts on current economic and investment conditions, and participate in games and other activities. SET, in conjunction with the Udon Thani provincial government, Udon Thani Chamber of Commerce, Federation of Udon Thai Industries, and Udon Thani Bankers’ Club, will host this year’s third road show. The next one will be in Khon Kaen in November, SET Executive Vice President Mr. Vichate Tantiwanich said. “The last Udon Thani road show (in June 2006) was very successful. The province is a strategic financial target, as it has accumulated the third highest savings total in the Northeastern region at about THB 38 billion (approx. USD 1.12 billion). Securities trading in the province averages about THB 3.4 billion per month and totaled well over THB 24 billion during H1/2007, making it the third most active in the Northeast after Nakorn Ratchasima and Khon Kaen. There are seven securities companies’ branches there,” Mr. Vichate added. The Money Channel Road Show educates local people about savings and investment fundamentals and, by exposing them to expert input, raises their awareness of important issues. Seminar topics at the Udon Thani Money Channel Road Show include Will the Thai economy run smoothly after the election?, How should businesses position themselves for the rest of the year?, and Stock, mutual fund and derivatives highlights. Participating organizations, such as securities, asset management and listed companies, and Thailand Futures Exchanges (TFEX) and SETTRADE.Com Co., Ltd. (SETTRADE), will provide about 20 information booths. People can apply to compete in online derivatives and stock trading games. Stock and unit trust investors who provide documentary evidence of their stock or unit trust holding will receive a special gift. The first 300 people to make an advance booking for a seminar and show their invitation card at the registration desk will win a free SET booklet and T-shirt. Visitors to Money Channel Road Show who donate THB 40 to the Foundation for Udon Thani People Fighting Against AIDS will receive a free booklet, compliments of SET. For kids, there will be the Magic Piggy Bank stage play, plus financial savings games and activities.
