The first round of Thailand Fashion Designers Award: TFDA 2007 has revealed the 25 winners to participate in the next activity of the competition, the Fashion Designers Camp, held on 25-27 July 2007. They will be trained by fashion experts and acquainted with leading textile producers. After a tough judgment in the first round, 25 contestants were selected to join the Fashion Designers Camp which took place on 25-27 July 2007. The venue was set at Thailand Export Mart, Department of Export Promotion, 7th Floor, room 728 in the first day and at S-Club Member Activity Room, Siam Center, 4th Floor on the second and the third days. M.L. Kathathong Thongyai, Director of the Office of Product Value Development, Department of Export Promotion presided over the event and gave the opening speech with the emphasis on young designers to be able to develop their skills in negotiating, branding and marketing and to cope with the intense competition in the world fashion business. Throughout the 3-day event, the participants were educated on various fashion issues by real fashion professionals working at both national and international level. They are Ms. Chanita Preechavittayakul, Senada brand designer who gave a lecture on the production of clothes from the drawing board, Mr. Chirat Sappisalkul, the well-known stylist of Sunshine brand from Headquater who provide tips in Thai fashion sourcing, Mr. Krit Yensudjai, a Mae Fa Luang designer and Mr. Vorawit Siripak, the Panpuri designer who taught how to apply Thai essence to international appeal, Dr. Anothai Cholachartpinyo, who taught the tricks of the trade in branding, marketing and merchandising, and Mr. Sombat Tirasaroj, Event Organizer from ‘Tue’ Co., Ltd. who completed the session with the winning formula for fashion competition. The 25 contestants still have more rounds to go after this camp activity, and only 10 of them will qualify for the next step; creating their own fashion shows at BIFF&BIL 2007, BITEC Convention Center, Bangna, on 23rd July 2007. On that day, the final results will be announced and the winner will be getting stunning reward including cash, fame and a trip to D&A Fashion Exhibition in New York, USA.
