ข่าวทั่วไป Wednesday August 8, 2007 12:00 —PRESS RELEASE LOCAL

Bangkok--8 Aug--IDS Marketing Countries around the world banned the use of Styrofoam, particularly as food containers. Italy banned non-biodegradable food packing. Denmark banned non-recyclable drinking sets. Norway, Korea, and Japan quickly followed in their footsteps. But Thailand has yet to step onto the green scale of packaging. Until now, IDS Marketing (Thailand) leads the world in introducing 100% natural Biodegradable Packaging“BIO”. Recently appointed the exclusive distributor of “BIO” in all channels, IDS Marketing, a full-service marketing company under Li & Fung’s, readily ventures into a market packed with plastic and Styrofoam. After use, BIO packaging is completely biodegradable in 30 days, this is because the variety of its food and beverage containers are made from natural sugar cane. Yet; comparing to plastic and Styrofoam, BIO packaging are better in every aspect — natural, 100% microwavable, water-resistant, food stable, convenient to use, and no pollution to the environment. “We are proud to be the pioneer in lifting up the food safety and environmental standard in Thailand. Consumer health and safety will be completely enhanced with the use of natural, 100% bio-degradable packaging” said Sutti Manokitjarunman, IDS’s general manager. “BIO” will be marketed in all hypermarkets, supermarkets, food shops and convenience stores in Thailand. Soon a breakthrough TV commercial will be launched to create awareness of this first of its kind food packaging through all major TV stations nationwide. Our goal is to eventually replace consumer’s use of health- hazardous Styrofoam as food containers. It is, after all, a noble aim to help protect our consumers and the public at large” With “BIO”, IDS hopes not only to spark awareness of eco-friendly products, but that of food safety as well. It has been known that Styrofoam gradually emits dangerous Styrene and Dioxin that are the main cause of cancer when used with food. This is why many countries totally banned the use of Styrofoam on food. By making “BIO” available in supermarkets and retail shops, IDS expects that as health and environmental awareness are increased, demand for “BIO” packaging will eventually replace all Styrofoam as food containers. Now it’s up to us, as consumers, to not only make the smart choice, but start making the green one as well. Interested in “BIO” packaging, please contact IDS Marketing (Thailand) Tel. 02-686-6888.
