Bangkok--8 Aug--TTIS BIFF&BIL 2007 organized by Department of Export Promotion, Ministry of Commerce aims to enhance buyers’ awareness of the wide-ranging capabilities of Thai fashion industry and to underscore for this year’s fashion show theme “Selected Fashion in Bangkok”. BIFF&BIL 2007 will present the “Bangkok Best” Fashion Show by top Thai designers. Fashion and leather goods created by the winners of Thailand Fashion Designer Award will be on display while a fashion show by the new generation of designers will take place in the Young Designers’ Room. Outstanding fashion accessories will be showcased in the BIFF&BIL Selection. Finally, the joint ASEAN fashion presentation entitled “Top of ASEAN” will draw to a close with a fabulous fashion show by Thailand’s high brand, Kai, fittingly named the “Icon of Bangkok.” Mr. Sombatsara Teerasaroch, managing director of Tue Co., Ltd., the fashion show organizer of BIFF&BIL 2007 noted that the fashion show theme “In Bangkok” will deliver the message that Bangkok is ready to become the Asia-Pacific region’s Fashion Hub as well as the national production and export base for fashion and leather goods. The theme colors of the show will be black and gold — gold being the auspicious color for this year’s celebration of His Majesty of the King’s 80th birthday. This year’s fashion show will be moved to Hall 105 of BITEC to ensure a more fitting and sophisticated ambience. The fashion show will take place in the mornings and afternoons during trade days, namely, August 22-24, 2007. Each round of fashion show will present top fashion creations by professional designers and new talented designers. For example, the Bangkok Best collection will comprise creations by Bangkok Fashion Society and world-class local brand names such as Greyhound, Boudoir, Kloset, Senada, Munchu’s, Sretsis, Good Mixer and Fly Now. All these brands have won acclaim and recognition from domestic and overseas buyers. Sretsis marketing manager, Ms. Klyduan Sukhahuta, added that Sretsis’ Autumn/ Winter 07-08 collection to be presented at this year’s BIFF&BIL will reflect the concept “Agent S.R.S.” Retrospective of the 60’s era, this style is mysterious, chic and sexy, with just the right touch of humor. Elaborating on Munchu’s unisex style, Mr Jenphob Viraporn, marketing director of Kafka Co., Ltd., noted that this brand is participating in BIFF&BIL for the first time this year. Munchu’s Autumn/ Winter 07-08 collection will reflect the vitality of the Hip-Hop dance and the Break Beat style highlighted by feminine fabrics such as lace and chiffon. Manchu’s signature big and loose silhouette is presented in fluorescent primary colors. Other interesting fashion shows include the Young Designers’ Room collection designed by 10 young designers who have been selected by the Department of Export Promotion to present their works at Pr๊t-เ-Porter in Paris. The catwalk parade named Thailand Fashion Designers Award will feature fashion creations by 10 finalists who have been selected from all the participants in the nationwide contest for designers of all ages. These finalists will have an opportunity to present their works to the deciding committee. The winner of the Award will be announced during BIFF&BIL2007. BIFF&BIL Selection is the theme of the fashion show that will consolidate various categories of fashion goods displayed in Brand Preference i.e. Hewgo, Ziroco, Kanita, 388 Wonders Boutique by Gunya’s. This fashion show will underscore the diversity of Thai fashion products, successful brand-building, as well as local producers’ ability to create designs that suit international demand. As a result, these Thai producers have won widespread recognition over the years. Several European and US buyers have expressed interest in placing orders for products to be displayed at this fashion show. The fashion show entitled Top of ASEAN will present outstanding fashion creations from Malaysia and Thailand. The closing fashion show entitled Icon of Bangkok will feature fabulous Haute Couture creations by Thailand’s veteran designer, Mr. Somchai Kaewthong, under the brand “Kai”. Concentrating on wedding and evening gowns made of linens, chiffon and silks, this fashion show will prove once and for all that Thailand’s Haute Couture can indeed compete with top global Fashion Houses. Another exciting event planned for BIFF&BIL 2007 is the Mini Fashion Show. The Street Fashion Runway will see wholesalers unveil their exciting collections on the catwalk, to be followed by fashion shows of lingerie, bags, shoes to children’s wear. Also featured are fashion accessories designed by Silpakorn University students. A separate show will present creations by a new generation of young designers. The Mini Fashion show will be held three rounds daily during the trade days from August 22 to 24. The diverse range of fashion and leather products as well as related services offered by famous producers from various countries in this region to be displayed under one roof will testify to BIFF&BIL’s reputation as the ASEAN region’s biggest fashion event. Over 700 businesses and service providers have already signed up to exhibit in this year’s fair which is expected to draw over 33,000 visitors from over 60 countries worldwide.
