Mitr Phol Sugar Group Clarifies Position On Ethanol Production

ข่าวทั่วไป Wednesday August 15, 2007 10:26 —PRESS RELEASE LOCAL

Bangkok--15 Aug--Aziam Burson-Marsteller Mitr Phol remains very committed to the production and sale of ethanol as a clean and effective alternative to fossil fuels. Ethanol has the potential to reduce Thailand’s dependence on imported energy as well as lowering the country’s CO2 emissions, which are a main cause of Global Warming. In addition, ethanol production is an effective way to utilize farmers’ crops and generate benefit for the country. Mitr Phol currently operates a state-of-the-art ethanol production facility in Amphur Phu Kheo, Chaiyaphum province and is completing a second facility in Amphur Kuchinarai, Kalasin province. 100% of the feedstock for these facilities comes from locally grown materials. Each plant can produce 200,000 litres per day for a combined production total of 400,000 litres per day. 70% of the ethanol from Phu Kheo plant is for the local market while the rest is for international market. Ethanol produced from Kalasin plant will be distributed to both the local and international markets at a ratio to be determined by prevailing market conditions at the time of launch. Due to rapid expansion of the export market for ethanol as well as a government tax exemption, Mitr Phol has decided to maximize production at its Chaiyaphum facility.
