Bangkok--15 Aug--EXIM BANK EXIM Thailand offers a 20% discount on buyer risk assessment service under its Export Credit Insurance facility to help Thai exporters cut costs and encourage them to timely and prudently check their buyers’ creditworthiness before exporting or offering their buyers payment terms. The Bank also streamlines its buyer risk assessment procedure by networking with online-based international credit information agencies. Dr. Apichai Boontherawara, President of Export-Import Bank of Thailand (EXIM Thailand), said a 20% discount on EXIM Thailand’s buyer risk assessment service is now on offer to exporters applying for the Bank’s Export Credit Insurance facility. Meantime, the buyer creditworthiness evaluation procedure is being upgraded with the online purchase of credit information worldwide. The new connection will provide Thai exporters with more up-to-date information on their buyers’ creditworthiness. According to EXIM Thailand President, the price reduction and service improvement are conducted simultaneously with an aim to encourage Thai exporters to properly gauge their buyers’ creditworthiness as well as stir their interest in insuring their export against non-payment risks amid the global economic uncertainties and fiercer competition. “In most cases, non-payment buyers are those having long-term business relations with Thai exporters, who have placed trust in them and usually offered them lenient payment terms. However, hit by severe competition, these buyers, particularly those in Thailand’s major export markets, have been facing liquidity problems. Therefore, to safeguard against the risks of non-payment by overseas buyers, Thai exporters should be keenly aware of their buyers’ financial position and insure every export order against non-payment,” added Dr. Apichai.
