Bangkok--30 Aug--Aziam Burson-Marsteller Asian Honda Motor Co., Ltd., Honda’s Bangkok-based Asia & Oceania regional headquarters, today announced its partnership with the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI) in the “FTI Fair.”Honda will showcase the new version of ASIMO for the first time in the Asia & Oceania region, along with Honda’s advanced technology ranging from environmentally friendly automotive innovations to technologies for the future. The event will be held at the Honda Booth, Hall 2, Impact Muang Thong Thani, between 19 and 23 September 2007. According to Mr. Adisak Rohitasune, Senior Vice President, Asian Honda Motor Co., Ltd., representing the Honda Group of Companies in Thailand, Honda has developed many interesting exhibitions and activities for the FTI Fair that clearly demonstrate Honda’s strong commitment to making the automotive industry in Thailand competitive in the global market through green technologies. The technologies presented at the event will highlight the potential and strength of Thailand’s automotive industry. “As a leader in innovation, Honda is preparing exhibitions showing technology for the future to educate and inspire youth and the general public about the role and impact technology has on our lives and society. We also hope to encourage the Thai public to actively develop and support human resource development, particularly in the area of technology, for the benefit of Thailand’s future,” said Mr. Adisak. Special highlights at the FTI Fair will include the launch the new version of ASIMO, which will be making its first appearance in Asia & Oceania, with demonstrations of ASIMO’s new, advanced apabilities five times each day. “ASIMO is the humanoid robot developed by Honda to demonstrate its abilities to live with humans on a daily basis, because Honda’s ultimate goal is to develop ASIMO to the point that it can successfully live with and help human beings. The new version of ASIMO has been developed with IC Card (Integrated Circuit Card) technology, enabling it to automatically welcome guests and provide information efficiently. ASIMO’s ability to move has been increased, so it now offers a much more versatile range of movement in a real environment. ASIMO can also run up to six kilometers per hour as well as run in a circle,” added Mr. Adisak. Honda will also organize educational exhibitions and activities of Honda innovations and technologies, such as green innovations that address global warming including the Honda Fuel Cell eXperimental vehicle (FCX); Solar Cell Film and Home Energy Station (HES); and other mobility innovations such as the Honda Jet and Thai-made Honda Ray, along with power product innovations. Honda’s technology exhibitions and the ASIMO show will take place at the FTI Fair 2007 at the Impact Convention Center, Muang Thong Thani, at the Honda Booth in Hall 2. There will be five ASIMO shows per day at 11.00 hrs., 13.00 hrs., 15.00 hrs., 17.00 hrs. and 19.00 hrs. Honda founded its first plant in Thailand 43 years ago with a focus on promoting the use of domestic parts. This led to human resource development and advanced technology transfer from Japan to Thailand. Currently, Thailand is a major manufacturing base for exports of Honda cars, motorcycles and parts, thanks in part to its advanced production technology, safety systems and care for the environment.
