Bangkok--4 Sep--SET To expand the number of foreign and domestic companies listing in the Thai capital market, The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET)’s Board of Governors has established a New Listings Committee. The group, made up of thirteen prominent executives from major economic agencies, will formulate strategies to promote listings, including the amendment of regulations, and review of tax incentives for those firms that list on SET and Market for Alternative Investment (mai). The committee, which is led by SET Chairman Mr. Pakorn Malakul na Ayudhya, will invite selected companies, operating in Thailand or abroad, to list, SET President Ms. Patareeya Benjapolchai said. A range of tax incentives for newly-listed companies are awaiting royal approval. Firms that apply in 2007 for listing and commence trading in 2008 will be eligible for tax exemptions of 5 percent if they list on SET, and of ten percent if they join mai. The incentives will apply for three accounting years, starting from the first year of listing, Mrs. Patareeya added. “These tax incentives provide a major incentive for firms to join the market. In addition, the amendment of rules and regulations that have impeded listing in the past will greatly accelerate the process for new businesses,” Mrs. Patareeya said. The committee, whose full membership is listed below, will operate from September 1, to December 31, 2007. New Listings Committee Membership 1.
