Bangkok--10 Sep--Maxima Consultants This season, Joan & David, fashion brand from the U.S.A. approaches business attire with easy, stylish alternatives for the professional woman. Renowned for its clean and feminine tailoring, this season is marked by a long, lean silhouette for the self-assured woman. This is interpreted in four key looks: Polished Glamour, Urban Luxury, Modern Chic and Layering Knits. Available now at Central Chidlom, The Emporium and Siam Paragon. Must-haves include sharp tailored suits, masculine-inspired smart casual and glamorous day dresses. Shoulders and sleeves are a focal area, balanced by neatly defined waists, whether belted or shaped in materials that range from patent leather to cashmere, mohair, brushed wools, tweeds, satins and metallics. Black hugs the limelight in intriguing and subtle combinations: black-on-black, black with grey, and black with brown or berry, the latter two colours re-emerging as classics. Bright accents - purple, cobalt blue, mustard yellow, orange, and muted heather, neutrals and metallic - bring brilliant flashes of colour or subtle contrast into the palette. The season begins with seasonless dressing for day and evening in port and navy silk chiffons, satin charmeuse and satin duchess working with spun silk to create a polished, glamorous look. Knits are belted for a defined waist and as seen in strong geometrics and floral prints, dresses are key for the transition from summer to fall. For the career woman who needs an updated urban chic wardrobe to get her through the season, a collection of sharp feminine suiting, leather blazer or skirt, patent leather trench, menswear pants with tweed jackets or mohair coating is available, predominantly in black, camel and mink. Cashmere in a multitude of soft colour such as antique rose and heather pink completes the look. As does earth tones of pumpkin and bordeaux that provide pop of colours to tailored coats and sportier jackets. For a more relaxed look, day separates in 60s shapes comes in a variety of modern tweeds, mohair jackets, brushed jerseys and flannel coats in different shades of heather greys, teamed with relaxed or slim-line trousers for a masculine feel. For the feminine edge, there is colour. Cobalt blue, purple, orange, yellow and colour block geometric shapes in a collection of hard and soft separates work together. Black-on-black is key on the catwalk this season. Ultra chic is the black texture tweeds and couture fabrics, jewelled for glamour, or contrasted with white. The structural shapes in tonal black project the most modern chic silhouettes of the collection. For special occasions, Joan & David offers beautiful separates in metallic and satin that shine with jewelled details. On their own, or teamed with neutral cashmere in easy shapes, the look is ideal for subtle glamour and finesse. Like the clothes this season, the accessories are ladylike, but practical. Shoes range from pumps with pointy toes and feminine bows to riding boots, mainly in black, brown, or coffee. Bags are easy sacs and totes in leather or patent, mostly in the favoured black of the season, as well as in bitter chocolate, or coffee with tone-on-tone details, straps, buckles and rings that hold leader handles in place.
