Bangkok--11 Sep--Bangkok Bank Bangkok Bank is offering Baht 5 billion in Bank of Thailand bonds with a return of 3.00 — 3.07 percent per annum. The bonds have a lifespan of 276 days (tranche number 6/364/50) and 339 days (tranche number 8/364/50) and are available from today at Bangkok Bank branches nationwide. Mrs. Ruchanee Nopmuang, Bangkok Bank Executive Vice President and Director for Metropolitan Consumer Banking, said the first tranche of Baht 2 billion of bonds has a remaining lifespan of 276 days, with the redemption date occurring on June 5, 2008. The second tranche of Baht 3 billion has a remaining lifespan of 339 days, with the redemption date occurring on August 7, 2008. The bonds are available to general investors as well as the bank’s customers. The annual rate of return is 3.00 percent for the first tranche and 3.07 percent for the second tranche. The bonds in both tranches have a face value of Baht 1,000 apiece. The minimum purchase is 500 units (Baht 500,000) and additional increments can be bought in blocks of 100 units (Baht 100,000). The bonds are available at all Bangkok Bank branches except Microbranches, from today onwards. Investors who purchase the discount bonds will pay the face value price discounted in accordance with the length of time that has elapsed since the bonds were first issued. When the bonds mature on the redemption date, investors will be paid the face value of the bonds. Investors can sell the bonds back to the bank any time, with the price discounted in terms of the remaining lifespan of the bonds. There is no limitation on ownership transfers. Mrs. Ruchanee said the bonds provide another option for customers and investors who wish to receive reasonable returns. The bonds are low risk and provide liquidity to investors as they can be sold prior to the redemption date. Given the rate of return of 3.00 — 3.07 percent per year, the bank is confident that there will be strong interest in the issue.
