Thailand International Logistics Fair 2007 Expanding logistics network to become the region’s prominent logistics hub

Bangkok--12 Sep--thaitradefair Department of Export Promotion (DEP), Ministry of Commerce in cooperation with the Thai National Shippers’ Council and the Hazardous Substances Logistics Association are using this year’s “Thailand International Logistics Fair 2007” as the marketplace for manufacturers, exporters and logistics service providers to cultivate global logistics network. This unique fair, which enters the fourth year, will give stage for local and international players to showcase their logistics strengths. The fair is completed with seminars and activities to boost export competitiveness and will take place from September 12 to 16 at BITEC Exhibition Center in Bangna. A Logistics Model Contest is also held to promote most effective practices. “The current trading situation is marked by fierce competition. As a result, logistics system and supply chain management have assumed greater importance as the key driver in moving goods and services to customers all over the world,’’ said Mr. Rachane Potjanasuntorn, DEP’s Director-General. “Thailand International Logistics Fair 2007 will provide a good opportunity for Thai logistics enterprises to create international networks and expand their customer/logistic service user base, both domestic and overseas. This is also a forum for producers, importers/exporters and logistics service providers and other related service providers to meet and negotiate business deals, with a view to expand trade and investment opportunities.’’ 134 exhibitors from every range of logistics industry, both local and international, will showcase their products, services and logistics technology under the theme of “Global Logistics Network”. At a total number of 288 booths, this year’s fair is considered the biggest logistics fair in ASEAN. International players who make their presence this year are from France, Slovenia, Japan, Singapore, Laos, Cambodia and Myanmar. Products and services presented at the fair are divided into three major groups. Logistics Services i.e. Container/Tank and Bulk, Container Terminal/Ports, Material Handling/Store System/Warehouse, Packing System, Transportation Services, Truck Trailer/ Commercial Vehicle. Software and IT Services i.e. Automatic Identification System & Equipment, Communication Technology & Equipment, Security Solution & Equipment, Software/Program, Tracking System & Equipment/Fleet Management; and Support Services i.e. Finance Consulting, Insurance, Educational Institutes, Government Services, Services Consulting, Associations and publishers. The fair also features activities that exporters and logistics operators can’t miss: such as; Seminars: Provide knowledge on international logistics networks, modern technology and logistics management. - “Global Logistics Network Symposium” gives knowledge on logistics, joint efforts to map global trade network, regional and global logistics practices for development of sustainable logistics trade. - Seminars on various topics i.e. best practice of inventory management, Best practice in Hazardous Material Logistics and Safety Management, Adoption of RFID for Trade Logistics in Europe Market etc. Business Presentation: Get to know what are in the offerings from the exhibitors themselves as they display their products, and technologies. B2B Matching: Reap new business opportunities by finding a prospective partner from local and international participants to enhance your business performance. Logistics Model Contest: The first competition for creative practice in logistics management ever held in Thailand to encourage local manufacturers, exporters and logistics service providers to implement sound logistics systems within their own organizations. The contest is held by the Trade Logistics Office, Department of Export Promotion, Ministry of Commerce. Winners will be announced during the fair. Logistics Park Exhibition: Will display the fully-integrated process of modern logistics management system ranging from loading/unloading through to warehousing, repairs, and Free Zone/Freight Forwarder zones that are located in the same industrial estate to ensure cost savings and management efficiency. Thailand International Logistics Fair 2007 is supported by the Federation of Thai Industries, the Thai Chamber of Commerce, Thai International Freight Forwarders Association (TIFFA), Thai Airfreight Forwarders Association (TAFA), the Ministry of Transport, the Office of the Board of Investment, the Customs Department, and Department of Insurance. Thailand International Logistics Fair 2007 will be held in parallel with the Bangkok RHVAC 2007 and Bangkok E&E 2007, on September 12-16 at BITEC, Bangna.
