Bangkok--17 Sep--ASIAN OASIS Ms. Chananya Phataraprasit, Executive Director of ASIAN OASIS, the well-known Bangkok-based specialist in eco-tourism and ‘slow travel’ announced today that she had signed another five year contract with her Laotian partners Luang Say and Vat Phou. As a result Asian Oasis Co. Ltd. will remain responsible for the sales and marketing of what are widely considered to be most comfortable riverboats and lodge operations on the Mekong River in Laos today. “We are very pleased to continue our cooperation” said Ms. Phataraprasit, “Luang Say and Vat Phou have been part of our collection for a long time and as pioneers in the operation of small scale river and coastal cruises we find it most rewarding that finally traveling in the slow lane is getting more popular every day. We have been focusing on the development of low density boutique travel for many years and we will definitely continue to source and develop more such genuine experiences outside of the mainstream. Our customer base has been growing steadily so we are now searching for more Asian Oases beyond our own borders.” As a management and marketing company Asian Oasis separated from its mother company East West Siam in November last year. Its product range is widely distributed through the brochures of tour operators in Europe, North America and Australia. At the same time the company is pursuing advanced web and distribution strategies together with its sister companies Galileo Thailand and Circle of Asia. The Luang Say Cruise is a journey through remote mountainous stretches of the Mekong River between the northern Thai border at Houeisay and the royal old City of Luang Prabang. The Vat Phou Cruise is a voyage of discovery exploring the exotic mystique of ancient Khmer ruins in the Southern Mekong region. In Thailand itself Asian Oasis operates both the award winning Lisu Lodge and Khum Lanna, two eco-lodges near Chiang Mai. The company also offers two day cruises on the Chao Phraya river between Bangkok and Ayuthaya: its Mekhala converted rice barges are well known for their discrete luxury and first class cuisine. Down South on the Andaman Sea, Asian Oasis operates a small fleet of traditional junk-rigged schooners: one of these classic wooden vessels known as ‘June Bahtra’ glides every day through Phang Nga Bay while their sister ship Suwan Macha plies the waters between Phuket, Krabi and Phi Phi. The quintessence of what Asian Oasis stands for and what the company brings to the market is very well captured in the introduction on the home page of its website: Asian Oasis is a unique collection of mythical journeys that take travelers through rich, authentic first-hand encounters with fascinating people and places… High resolution picture material can be found on http://www.asian-oasis.com/hi-res/ For additional information contact: Willem Loots, Director of Sales and Marketing, ASIAN OASIS CO.
