Bangkok--21 Sep--Siemens The two Siemens’ trains out of the total nine for Suvarnabhumi Airport Rail Link Project have already been embarked from the port of Bremerhaven in Germany on the cargo ship ‘MV Pegasus Leader’ to Thailand, and are expected to arrive at Laem Chabang Port in Chonburi Province by mid of October. Mr. Bancha Kongnakorn, Acting Governor of the State Railway of Thailand, has also witnessed the dispatch. These two Express trains were rolled out from Siemens Transportation Systems’ manufacturing plant in Krefeld, Germany in March and April for the series of type and routine tests in Siemens’ Wegberg-Wildenrath Test Center before having been transported by train to Bremerhaven for the shipment to Thailand. All the rest seven train carriers; another two Express and the other five for City Line will reach Thailand by January 2008 as scheduled. The first test run in Bangkok is anticipated to be carried out by April 2008. The 4-car Express trains, 81.36 m long, will operate on the 25.7 kilometer railway from the Bangkok City Air Terminal at Makkasan/Asok area to the new airport terminal. The system is designed that passengers can check-in at the City Air Terminal and get their luggage conveniently transported in the baggage compartment of the train. The trip with the Express train between the city and the airport will take only 15 minutes with a maximum speed of 160 km/h while the 3-car City Line train (with a length of 61.02 m.) will transfer the passengers between Phaya Thai station and the airport terminal with 6 stops at the intermediate stations within 28 minutes. All trains will have state-of-the-art safety systems, and will set highest safety standards. Passengers will benefit from a much enhanced level of airport transfer convenience and comfort. “Siemens is committed to deliver high standards of quality and services.
