Bangkok--24 Sep--Bangkok Bank Bangkok Bank has introduced a special edition ‘Sufficiency Life’ Be1st debit card that supports the economic principles of His Majesty the King. The bank will offer the new Be1st card with a savings account under a campaign led by the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) and 16 financial institutions that aims to encourage people to save money. Customers who sign up to the ‘Sufficiency Life’ Be1st debit card between now and December 31 will receive a special gift from the bank. Bangkok Bank Executive Vice President Chartchai Srirussamee said the bank had joined the BMA’s ‘Sufficiency Life’ project to celebrate the auspicious occasion of the 80th anniversary of His Majesty’s birthday on December 5, 2007. The project aims to increase saving rates to build financial stability for the future. The bank is providing fixed and savings ‘Sufficiency Life’ accounts. Both the Be1st card and the savings account passbook will bear an historic photograph of the large crowd of people who gathered in yellow shirts at the Anantasamakom Throne Hall during the celebration of His Majesty the King’s 60th accession to the throne on June 9, 2006. The design is prescribed by the BMA for all participating financial institutions to use. Bangkok Bank is the only participating bank to offer a debit card together with the ‘Sufficiency Life’ account. Customers who open an account and apply for the Be1st debit card will receive a free jacket, while customers opening a fixed account with a deposit of Baht 100,000 or more will receive a passbook holder album. The special gifts are available from now until December 31, 2007, or until stocks last.
