Bangkok--25 Sep--Maxima Consultants H.E.Mr.Krirk-krai Jirapaet, Minister of Commerce recently presided over the opening ceremony for ‘Carrefour OTOP’ program, the permanent distribution channel of The One Tambon One Product (OTOP) at Carrefour, organized by Carrefour’s managing director Philippe Broianigo at Carrefour Ladprao. Mr.Philippe Broianigo, managing director of Carrefour revealed that ‘the ‘Carrefour OTOP’ program is developed to provide marketing channels for OTOP products distribution to all regions, as one of our missions to help nation further its growth on economic stability as well as to promote quality life and quality product line. The project will be firstly implemented in 6 branches including Rama IV, ladprao, Ratchadapisek, Chonburi, Chiang Mai and Pattaya. The new program will eventually access to the market through every branch nationwide by the end of 2007 and expected to earn sales 200 Million Baht for 3-5 star OTOP products of over 600 items in the first year.’ The program aimed at increasing production and distribution capability of the manufacturers of community products or local entrepreneur. Under the new project, we would assist in marketing knowledge to OTOP manufacturers. In addition, Carrefour would assist on bringing system of product delivery and efficiency storing inventory at its distribution center in Ayuthaya province. Besides creating permanent penetration to the market, the special terms and conditions have been implemented for potential manufacturers such as the shorten credit term, supply chain procedure and more. Carrefour also aimed to be the premium OTOP destination center for Thai customers and foreigners by displaying OTOP products from many provinces within the country such as preserved products, supplementary food, Thai herb, spices, handicraft, traditional textile, ceramics, wooden sculpture, woven products and other consumer products. ‘By exhibiting OTOP, Thai customers and foreigners would be encouraged to realize the importance of OTOP and it would lead to new roads to export prosperity, especially through Carrefour Global sourcing to currently over 1,000 hypermarkets worldwide.
